Adipic acid is a pure and crystalline product that is mainly used as an intermediate.
Adipic acid is easily soluble in hot water and alcohol. Adipic acid can only be converted to
cyclopentanone at higher temperatures by splitting off carbon dioxide and water. At low temperatures,
adipic acid is a permanent compound.
Adipic acid forms with alcohols together mono- and diesters.
